Running the Simulation
Play/Pause Buttons
When you are ready to run the simulation simply click
the play button in the main window. At any time while
the simulation is playing you can pause it which saves
your spot in the simulation. With the simulation paused
you can click the step back and forward buttons which will
allow you to slowly step through the simulation in small
increments. Anytime that the simulation is paused you can
click the options menu and edit firewall rules. Any rules
edited/added/removed etc with the simulation paused will
immediately be taken into account and change the simulation
behavior from that point on. Clicking the play button
while the simulation is paused will resume playing the
simulation at the speed which is currently chosen on the
speed slider.
Stop Button
Clicking the stop button while the simulation is running
will stop the simulation and clear the network back to
the original network image. You can still view the firewall
logs after clicking stop, however the logs will be cleared
when play is clicked again to start a new simulation.
Speed Slider
Moving the speed slider to the right speeds up
the simulation and slows down the simulation when
slid to the left.
Congestion Slider
The congestion slider increases the amount of traffic
being generated across the whole network including
workstations and the internet cloud. Higher congestion
occurs with the slider to the right and lower when slid
to the left. If the congestion slider is moved all the
way to the left it drops the congestion to zero and
prevents new traffic from being generated. All packets
still on the network will continue to move towards
their destination until the network is completely
void of traffic and will stay this way until the
congestion slider is moved from the zero or far
left position.
